What is AOR?

The Activity on  Referral scheme is a countywide initiative whereby health professionals, such as a GP and Practice Nurse can refer physically inactive people with a medical condition to their local leisure facility. The scheme helps individuals to lead a more healthy and active lifestyle by providing them with a personalised training programme as well as support and encouragement in a supervised and safe environment.

The Activity on Referral (AoR) scheme is offered at AoR accredited leisure facility sites in all seven districts of Northamptonshire. Participants can attend sessions as frequently as they wish and will be offered a range of options including gym, swim and fitness classes according to their preference, medical condition and the venue.

There is a cost to join the scheme which varies from site to site, with the majority of sites offering a reduced concessionary rate and a direct debit option.
